Conjunctivitis

Bindehautentzündung·Also: Konjunktivitis

Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the conjunctiva — a thin mucous membrane that covers the inner side of the eyelids and the front part of the sclera; it does not cover the cornea itself. Typical symptoms are redness, burning, tearing, and, depending on the cause, discharge.
